Ryan was lucky enough to have an upbringing centred around business ownership. His parents have always been self-employed, so it was natural that he followed suit.

As a high school student, he managed to build a modest lawn-mowing and landscaping business and continued running the company throughout his university studies.

Before starting Kudu Advisory, Ryan was an accountant at a boutique Auckland-based accounting firm, where he carried out his training and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. It’s also where he developed a passion for working alongside the small business owner. As a CA specialising in SME’s, you are in a fortunate position whereby you have the opportunity (an obligation, rather) to know your clients and their business, probably to the point where you know the most, second to the directors. This is something very unique to the SME business market, and not something you find in the corporate world.
